Greenway Centre Weight Loss Challenge Feedback

“It has been life changing, not only have I changed what I put in my mouth, I have educated my family, lost weight & finally improved my health problem, Kara & Steve are always at hand if I need advice, support, a motivational talk or just a chat.  It has changed my attitude & my life & helped me to eat again!” – Hannah Bidwell

“I’ve made lots of changes, I’m more aware of what I eat & am more adventurous in my foods, I have more energy, I feel educated & I’m going away with a lot more knowledge than I ever have from any diet I have ever done” – Anne Bird

“Being weighed every week has concentrated my mind/will power.  Surprisingly I never felt hungry throughout the 12 weeks” – Gordon Sammonds

“I enjoyed learning about vitamins & minerals, making food plates & sharing recipes.  I feel that the Weight Loss Challenge is more of a life changing than a diet, I like the fact that you don’t have to count points/calories etc” – Rachel Heddington

Energy levels!!..and how different foods affect them

Different foods affect your energy levels in different ways.  High sugary & simple carbohydrate foods generally give you a quick release of sugar into your blood stream, hence a quick release of energy.  After the insulin in your pancreas combats the sugar you are left with a dip in your glucose & energy levels.  This can happen quickly after eating & can therefore make you feel tired, lethargic & hungry.  It is important to ensure every meal is well balanced.  This is especially important for people with diabetes to decrease the risk of having a hypoglycaemic attack.
